First Update in Forever

Haven't really had time to update the site recently, but I have been keeping busy in between moving this summer. In approximate order:

June: DJed Faith Paulick/Jason Cimbalo's pre-wedding party
June: DJed a middle school dance for Radcliffe Creek School
June: Graduation party for daughter of co-worker at RCS
June & July 4: DJed two dates at Andy's Bar in Chestertown, which has unfortunately shut down since then.
September 19: DJed wedding reception for C. Harbeson and bride @ Great Oak Manor
September 20: DJed "Shorefest", a music festival featuring local and up-and-coming bands benefiting the Jetty Foundation.

Upcoming this weekend is my road trip to North Carolina to DJ my good friend Faith Paulick's big day. On October 25th I will be heading to Wilmer Park to DJ the second annual AOPi Queen of the Roses Run/Walk in memory of deceased sister Jasmine Queen.

Following that I have been contacted for another wedding on November 28th, again at Great Oak Manor. Apparently I did well enough out there this month to be recommended by the management. I will also be working the Washington College Student Center Opening from 10pm to 2amish on November 22nd.

Ordered a wireless mic today as well to hook into my current setup. When I return from NC I will be looking into purchasing a new set of speakers and a new integrated amp, and will be retiring most of my current equipment into backup status.

WACR

So I will indeed be hosting a radio show for Washington College Radio, or WACR, from 7-9 on Friday and Saturdays. I will be playing my normal mix of hip-hop, r&b, and pop. If you are interested in listening to some good tunes as you pre-game or whatever it is you do from 7-9 at night on weekends, then tune in!

Hopefully they'll be updating the profile and making it a little more professional soon. I'll be on starting tomorrow night.

New Events and Radio Show?!

So I've picked up two more events since last updating. First off is the AOPi Formal at Waterman's Restaurant in Rock Hall on April 18th. This'll be my third event with the sorority for the year, but this one will be distinguished by being an actual formal, rather than one of the house party formals I've been doing so far. Secondly, I am doing a Greek event on the Washington College green called "Take Back the Night" on April 23rd. Not too sure on the details beyond that on the event, but I've pretty much gotten the confirm on it.

Lastly, I am possibly going to start hosting a online radio show for the new online WACR (Washington College Radio). I emailed the student, a senior at the college regarding the station, and recieved a postive reception to my solicitation. Waiting to here back now, but it looks good to go as well. Needless to say, I am quite excited by the possibility. More info soon! (Plus, pics from AOPi Sweethearts formal soon, I promise!)

Upcoming & Past Events

It's been awhile since I've updates so I'll just get everything up to date. I DJed the AOPi Sweethearts party on the 27th last month, which ended up going very well. I will post pictures of the event sometime soon.

I picked up another couple of events as well:
-Kappa Sigma fraternity charity event at Waterman's in Rock Hall on April 17th.
-Wedding in Jarretsville on August 15th of this year.

At some point I am going to need to look at a more powerful amp as well as a wireless microphone.

New Events

So I might be doing an event this Friday- a middle school dance I believe, for Radcliffe Creek School (where I sub part time). Still waiting to find out from the teacher/organizer of the event.

It also looks pretty definite that I will be doing the Phi-Sigma/AOPi party on the 27th of Feb.

I need to print up more business cards.

Around the World party

Here are pictures from the Around the World party that I DJed last night. The fog machine got a little out of hand a few times, hence the smokiness of the room in some shots.

New Music- B.O.B.

I'm going to start using this to post new music that I would play at my party as well. Hopefully this gives you guys and any visitors a view of the music I love and what got my into DJing in the first place.

Here's two videos by a hot new artist, B.O.B. I think this guy might explode this year. Seems very similar to Andre 3000 with a little Pharrell and Kanye West influcences too (though mostly in his fashion with those two). The first song is his new single, while the second is a spoof of the recent Autotune craze. If you enjoy, you can also catch B.O.B. on T.I.'s latest album, "Paper Trail" in the song On Top of the World. Hope you enjoy.

Updated Business Card & New Event

Going to be DJing the Phi Sigma Fraternity Around the World Party on Feb. 7th, an event I expected I would probably be doing, but finally got the confirm today. It should be lots of familiar faces, so lots of fun there.

Also, I have made a few changes and finalized my business card. I have printed a couple of these and am handing them out, so if you see me around, feel free to ask for one! I should have a professional printing of them in a few weeks. I'll put a pic of it up later this evening, as well as a shot of my newpaper ad I'm working on, once I complete it.

Business Card mock-up

One last post for the evening: My first mockup of a business card. Not sure if this one will ever be published, but it's my first try at coming up with something to promote myself. The website www.vistaprint.com seems to have pretty good pricing, but only ok reviews online. Should probably keep searching...

AOPi Christmas Party

Here are a few pics from the Sorority Christmas formal I did back in December. Enjoy!

All the AOPi Seniors take a group shot.

1st Entry

So I'm starting this to chronicle and document the progression of my entrepreneurship as a DJ. As of today I have two gigs under my belt: the AOPii formal/house party and JBK Hardware's Christmas party, both back in December. I will be posting pictures shortly from the formal, which went great, and kinda got me on my feet with this whole thing. Since then I have upgraded all my equipment, and have made big moves towards formalizing this as an actualized vision.

As for my future plans, I have already been asked to DJ Faith Paulick's wedding this October in North Carolina, and also have plans to advertsise via the Washington College student newspaper this spring (bygones be bygones as far as my past difficulties with that publication go) and have begun pushing my name pretty aggresively around the area. I have high hopes, but only time will tell if the events roll in as I hope, especially with the way the economy is. More to come soon!
